EnduraGuard™EnduraGuard™ is the latest breakthrough from Pioneer Metal Finishing that works particularly well on die castings and wrought alloys. Ask about EnduraGuard™ for extreme corrosion protection needs.
*Results may vary depending upon alloy constituents of casting and actual conditions Comparative Testing of Conventional E-Coat vs EnduraGuard™Test 1: Acid TestOne E-coated part and one EnduraGuard™ treated part was placed in an acidic solution consisting of 13% Sulfuric Acid by volume. The parts were left in the solution for a total of 80 hours at room temperature. After exposure, the parts were rinsed and dried for inspection. The following photos illustrate that the E-coat part had large areas of peeling as well as severe areas of corrosion, particularly on the inside of the part.
Test 2: Corrosion Resistance Test (Salt spray test with a crosshatch)The salt spray test was done according to ASTM B117. The E-Coated part shows severe corrosion, particularly on the inside of the part. The crosshatched area shows creeping of the cross, indicating corrosion. The part with the EnduraGuard™ treatment shows small areas of corrosion where the part was racked during coating. The rest of the part showed no signs of corrosion. The crosshatched area shows minor corrosion, but no creeping of the cross, indicating no spreading of the corroded area.
EnduraGuard™Time lapse from 200 hours to over 3200 hoursIn a different application, EnduraGuard™ held up over 3200 hours of salt spray with a crosshatch test. The photos below illustrate how EnduraGuard™ resisted corrosion.
SummaryThe tests performed show the following results:
